Atago Shrine (愛宕神社)



Stairway to Success


Atago Shrine is built on the highest elevation above sea level(only 26 meters) in Downtown area.

Once upon a time a young Samurai rode his horse up that steep stairway to dedicate the general of the Samurai.  After that, the horse was so exhausted that it tooks 45 minutes to back down again.

This greenery pedestrian walkway is connected between Atago Shrine to Seishoji Temple.

RestRoom:
There is toilet the other side of the souvenior shop from 10am to 4pm.

Get There:
Take Subway Toei Mita Line to Onarimon, Exit A5.Take a walk the direction toward the AtagoGreenHills.

Crossing the intersection by using a pedestrian walkway, then take your right and take a walk about five minutes. You will find a steep stairway on your left. Then go up a stairway and you'll be there.

Travel Tip:

When you got to the nearest train station or bus stop, ask someone to point out the Japanese character on the top line of this sentence. You will be there effectively.
