Bashamichi / Yokohama

Bashamichi, which means Horse drawn Carriage Street was completed based on the treaty concluded between the Japanese government and Western Countries in 1867.

At the time of the opening the port, Westerners traveled by Horse drawn Carriage between the port and Downtown area. This street also installed first gas light ever in Japan with lining the trees on the street.

Take Subway Minato Mirai Line to Bashamichi Station, Exit 5.

Bashamichi Station located between the Old Town such as Bashamichi and New urban area such as Minato Mirai.

Formerly, This building was Bank of Fuji Yokohama Branch was built in 1929.

Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Cultural History which designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan was built in 1904.

This building was built as Silk Center in 1926.
