Hibiya Park / Hibiya, Tokyo

Hibiya Park is Japan's first modern Western style parkin Japan which was opened in 1903.

Access:
From Subway Hibiya station(Hibiya or Chiyoda lines), Exits A10 or A14.

The large fountain in the center of the park shoots up water as high as 12 meters.

Dr.Jose Rizal(1861-1896) is Philippine's National Hero who dedicated his life to Philippine independence. He stayed Imperial Hotel which built on neaby Hibiya Park in 1888. This statue erected in honor of him by volunteer contributions in 1961.

Hibiya Public Hall is a Neo Gothic style building which was built in 1919.


The former park office is a German bungalow style building which was built in 1910.

Drinking fountain for horses was built in 1903. Even though this fountain has remained unused.

This stone wall which called Hibiya Mitsuke Ato(日比谷見附跡) is a part of Hibiya Gate, one of the outer defenses of the Edo Castle.

H.E.Elpidio QUIRINO(1890 - 1956), former President of the Republic of the Philippines built up a bridge of friendship between Japan and Philippine.
